A reality in continual evolution

Fifteen years after the foundation of the Museum and ten years of continual and fruitful activity, the Museum del Colle del Duomo has decided to renew its image with a complete restyling of the signage and adding a technological touch in order to keep up with the times.

In January 2015 new information panels were set up at the Museum entrance. They contain major information about the three sections of the museum collections, on the various services for visitors such as guided visits to the Monumental Complex which includes the Museum, San Lorenzo Cathedral and the Papal Palace.

Other panels explain the various promotions, the apps and possibility of taking photos inside the buildings to share one’s experiences on various social networks using the hashtag #colledelduomo. Visitors with smart phones have the chance to use another novelty: the qr-codes next to every object in the museum connect with in depth information about the works and the info panels can be shared on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Three “speaking paintings” are included in the museum itinerary. With the aid of tablets and high technology the paintings “Madonna della Carbonara“, “San Marco” and “Madonna with Child” come to life and narrate their stories and that of the painters who created them.

To benefit the ever increasing number of visitors and to support these novelties, Archeoares has decided to eliminate the weekly closing on Mondays and to remain open every day from 10 to 1 p.m. and in the afternoon from 3 to 7 p.m. up to the beginning of November.
