These two objects show the continuity of life and habitation on the Cathedral hill and in Viterbo in general. The first is a headless and armless female figure stylistically datable to the 2nd century AD.<\/p>\n

It is part of a series of objects made of different types of marble shown at the Museum. Some of these fragments are of large size and excellent quality. The arch is a medieval piece found during the consolidation works of the Diocesan archives in 1907 and has a decoration with monstrous beings devouring trailing greenery. This is a common motif in Romanic art and can be found in several Viterbo church decorations.<\/p>\n
