Through the author Adem’s biography and that of his family narrated by Kristin Jenkins, we affront the theme of emigration from Kosovo in Italy following the traumatic changes in the end of the regime of Tito in Yugoslavia.

The experiences gathered underline the drama of abandonment of the native land and the difficulty of integration in the new one, made even more difficult because of belonging to the Rom ethnic group. Arrival in Florence becomes a salvation from the war but at the same time exposure to other dramas  connected with life in the nomad camps.

Along with the work is the chronicle of a voyage of Kristin Jenkins in Serbia and a collection of Rom poetry. Actually the Bejzak family lives in a house in Florence.
